Takashi Kiyoizumi, an executive with over 30 years of experience and a board-certified plastic surgeon, is an angel investor and entrepreneur specializing in life sciences. As founder and CEO of MediciNova, he raised over $180 million in private placements and a successful IPO in only 5 years. Prior to MediciNova, he worked as President and CEO of Tanabe Research Laboratories, USA, a US affiliate of the Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma. Currently, he also serves as Executive Manager for the Japan Forum for Innovation and Technology (JFIT) at University of California, San Diego. He is on the Council of Industry Advisors at the Applied Innovation of UC Irvine and a Mentor/Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) of CONNECT.
Since 2005, he has been an active angel investor and dedicated board member of various life science ventures in San Diego. Having earned his M.D. and Ph.D. from the Keio University School of Medicine, as well as an S.M. (MBA) from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Taka possesses practical experience and rich theoretical knowledge in both medicine and management.
His experience and diverse background have helped him establish himself as a renowned performance coach and a fully certified body language trainer. He developed the “Pitch & Score!” program, a result-oriented communication training tailored towards entrepreneurs and executives.
